This is the link for the article I chose http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/newsenglish/witn/2007/07/070711_wonders.shtml
The listening wasn't working therefore I'll write about what I read.
I chose an article about the new Seven Wonders of the World. People around the world were in charge of this. They had to vote by using either the internet or text messages. Is is said that a hundred - million votes were given to get the results of this poll. The announcement of the New Seven Wonders of the World took place in a luxurious ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal.
The winning wonders were The Great Wall of China, signalled as the only one which is visible from space. Representing America there are the Rio de Janeiro's Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Machu Picchu in Peru and Chichen Itza in Mexico. The last two wonders - considering that the pyramids at Giza had been made and honorary candidate with no need to go through the official process - were Rome's Colosseum and the Taj Mahal.

Very clear and effective summary of the news story Pato, and good use of sentence structure.
Just a couple of points to consider:
a hundred million with no need for hyphens.
took place at a glamorous ceremony instead of "took place in a luxurious ceremony."
had been made an honorary candidate rathern than "had been made and honorary candidate".
